Clean air in the house under reliable protection

It is common knowledge that polluted air causes health problems. Satisfying a poor ecological situation, we completely forget that at home, where we spend much more time, the air is not cleaner than on the street.

But if we can not influence the ecology of the city, then everyone can clean the air in the house.

Fresh air in the apartment is a real problem. Contrary to popular belief, street air is much cleaner than home air. Factors of air pollution in the flatt is very much, and, first of all – it is dust.

A year on one square meter can accumulate about 8 grams of dust. It consists of microscopic fibers of textile, spores of fungus and mold, particles of skin, bacteria, pollen of plants, street soot, tiny saprophytes and products of their vital activity.

Half the components of ordinary house dust are high allergens. They can cause allergic rhinitis, eye inflammation, coughing, skin irritation and even asthma. And, the longer a person contacts an allergen, the higher the chances that the allergy will eventually manifest itself.

Secondly, the air in the apartment is polluted by kitchen couples. The smallest drops of grease and soot create an unpleasant, specific smell, which has nothing to do with the pleasant aroma of delicious food. And if the house is smoked, then there is a third factor – tobacco smoke, the smell of which can not be eroded by weeks. In a word, we can not name clean air in our apartments. For the house to breathe easily, and all household members feel good, the air must be cleansed and moistened.

Methods of cleaning the air in the house

There are several methods of air purification. At the same time, we will not consider among them different air fresheners and fragrances. They only give a pleasant aroma, interrupting the kitchen dish, cigarette smoke and the smell of dust – in a word, they mask the problem and do not solve it. To ensure that the atmosphere in the house was healthy, it is necessary to purify the air, removing all harmful substances and dust particles from it. How to do it?

1. Open windows more often

The apartment has more dust than on the street. To refresh the atmosphere, you need to ventilate the room regularly. It is advisable to do this in the morning and the evening. In a stagnant, still, air, bacteria, and fungi feel very well. The more fresh air – the fewer invisible enemies.

2. Moisturize the air
In the cold season, when central heating works, the humidity in our homes drops significantly. In the dry air, light microscopic dust fragments can hang very long. They get into the respiratory tract and irritate the mucous membranes. If the air is sufficiently moist, the dust gets wet, becomes heavier and descends to the floor, where it is easily collected by a vacuum cleaner, and the air is cleaned. Increase the level of humidity will help special humidifiers. The effect will be even more noticeable if you supplement such a device with a small interior fountain or aquarium, a nice eye, and beneficial to health.

3. Buy an air cleane

rA good air cleaner filters the air, removing it from dust and harmful impurities. This device cleans, disinfects and ionizes the air so that it becomes easier to breathe immediately. Modern air cleaners, equipped with a multi-stage cleaning system, are not cheap, but they give an excellent effect.

4. Get a good vacuum cleaner

Inexpensive models of vacuum cleaners with a fabric dust collector and primitive filters remove only visible debris but do not help to clean the air. Rather, on the contrary – the smallest dust, picked up by a stream of hot air, is electrified and spreads throughout the house. Simple, inexpensive filters are not able to detain microscopic fragments of dust, and they safely return to the air. Also, the dust collector itself eventually becomes a hotbed of harmful bacteria. It is much more useful in the fight against dust to use a vacuum cleaner equipped with an aqua filter and a HEPA filter system for cleaning air from allergens. Such vacuum cleaners not only retain more than 99% of dust but also moisturize the air.

Home Air Purifiers

Air purifiers are devices that pass air through themselves, trapping dust, allergens, and toxic substances with the help of special filters. The efficiency of the air cleaner depends on the type of filter. The simplest and cheapest mechanical filters detain only large dust particles but are powerless before pollen of plants and spores of fungi, microorganisms, and other allergens. Today, this type of filter is considered obsolete and inefficient.

Coal filters give a much better effect, especially in combination with other types of filters. If you replace them promptly – about once every four months – then they help make the air cleaner. However, they have one significant drawback – at high humidity, the efficiency of carbon filters drops sharply.

HEPA filters, which until quite recently were considered a novelty, are now an integral part of any purification system. They were invented to alleviate the life of allergies. These high-tech filters delay microscopic dust fragments, poisonous substances, plant pollen, spores and germs – in short, anything that can cause an allergic reaction. Sometimes for a better effect HEPA filters are impregnated with antibacterial compounds.

Some air purifiers use water filters. The principle of their work is simple, like all ingenious – air is passed through the water and returns to the room literally washed – clean, fresh and moist. Such a cleaner performs also the functions of the air humidifier.

According to scientists, the number of people who are allergic to dust is constantly increasing. Especially hard it is borne by children and seniors, for them, air purification is crucial. If together with you live children or elderly relatives, think about buying an air cleaner or a high-quality vacuum cleaner.

How to Humidify the Air at Home

The optimal level of humidity for a person is 40-60%, but in our apartments, it rarely rises above 25%. Humidity can be increased using an air humidifier – a compact and noiseless device that does not require any special mounting. Humidifiers are classical, ultrasonic and steam.

  • Classical, the simplest, work on the principle of cold evaporation – water, filled in a special tank, gets on the plate, where it evaporates under a stream of cold air from the fan. The lower the humidity, the faster the water evaporates. Plates need to be changed from time to time.
  • Steam humidifiers  work on the principle of a kettle – water in them boils, and steam humidifies the air. They are safe and designed so that hot water does not pour out even if the appliance turns over. Steam humidifiers are very useful and convenient – they do not contain any replacement cartridges. But such models have a minus – they consume a lot of electricity.
  • Ultrasonic humidifiers turn water into the smallest water dust using high-frequency oscillations. The fan blows dry air from the room through a “cloud” consisting of microscopic particles of water and is fed into the room in the form of a cold and wet fog.
